| URBAN ENTREPRENEUR PARTNERSHIP LAUNCHES WITH IN-STATE REGIONAL MEETINGS
June 12, 2006 BATON ROUGE, La.- Louisiana Economic Development’s (LED) Entrepreneurial Services group, working with Urban Entrepreneur Partnership Gulf Coast, Inc. (UEP), is hosting regional meetings to help bring together and develop a structure for all local entities that provide assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. UEP Gulf Coast is an unprecedented partnership among the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, National Urban League, Business Roundtable, federal agencies (White House, SBA and others) and LED. It was formed to respond to the unique circumstances resulting from hurricanes Katrina and Rita, alleviate deficiencies in basic needs such as housing and job creation and help catalyze entrepreneurship education, research, policy development and growth throughout Louisiana. Kick-off meetings are being held state-wide to introduce UEP to local business assistance providers. During the meetings, UEP intends to learn about local providers’ activities and identify their needs. To date, LED has held meetings in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Hammond, New Orleans and West Monroe.
