75th GRADUATING CLASS
Program Graduation on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014
Kansas Legal Services will host a Graduation Ceremony for the 75th Graduating Class of the Topeka Moving Ahead Program (TMAP) onThursday, April 3, 2014. During the course of the 13 week program, seven graduates who were formerly homeless have obtained employment and life skills, received assistance in finding permanent housing, employment and other services, completed real-world internships and much more.
The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Kansas Association for Justice, 719 SW Van Buren, Topeka, KS. Graduates will receive diplomas and speak about their experiences and plans for the future. Dr. Janet Haynes, Program Director of the Topeka Correctional Facility Substance Abuse Recovery Program, will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Haynes has been a behavioral health clinician and administrator, college professor, published author and speaker. She holds degrees in psychology, sociology, human resources administration and educational leadership.
TMAP offers many needed services for persons experiencing homelessness.As a part of the Topeka/Shawnee County Continuum of Care since 2003, TMAP has partnered with dozens of community agencies, including the Topeka Rescue Mission which houses program participants, to assist persons in resolving barriers to self-sufficiency.
