Each of the renewal panels require at a minimum 3 panel volunteers who served on the original panel when the funding decision was made last spring.

Also on the renewal panel we would like to have a minimum of 3 new volunteers participate.  The goal is 9 or more volunteers on the renewal panels.

For those of you who are new to the United Way investment process, while the partners are funded for 3 years, we renew their contracts yearly. United Way is volunteer driven and all of our investment decisions are made by volunteers. Renewals allow our partners to explain what went well this last year, what they learned, and provide explanation of any changes in their budget request. Volunteers review narrative questions, their 2016 (year 2) proposed budget, and their projected numbers of clients (students) served and percent they anticipate to reach for each specified outcome. Panel volunteers  will review these materials through an online platform and then will convene on specified dates to discuss as a group the partners’ application and make the investment decision.

*We ask you to prepare for a full day for a new RFP. However depending on how many applications are received it may or may not take the full day. Lunch will be provided for full day panels. For this process and for a new RFP having 15 – 18 panel volunteers ensures we are being good stewards of UW dollars and placing it where the largest impact will be made in our community.

You can register to volunteer for one of the 7 panels by CLICKING HERE and then clicking on the Volunteer Investment Panelist button which looks like this  .

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding this information. Whether you are able or unable to participate on a panel this April I would greatly appreciate it if you will forward this information on to family, friends and co-workers who may have an interest in being a part of the work United Way of Greater Topeka as well as how UWGT invests in our community.

Kind Regards,

Kimberly Wolff
